Texas natives Harlem continue to their North American tour by playing tonight at the Green Room in Montreal. I won’t be able to make it because of the glory of the United States, 1940-1965 (exams…) but don’t follow my lead, go see these guys rip through fun song after fun song from their excellent 2010 album, Hippies. These fellas play a nice brand of garage-ish rock, but it’s not particularly fuzzy or lo-fi. Instead their appeal comes from just flat out good songs and the feeling of good times that come with them. Check the music video for one of their best songs, Gay Human Bones, below. They’re playing ‘The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern’ in Toronto tomorrow, if that’s more your locale. If you’re in Canada outside Ontario or Quebec you’ll have to wait for another time to see these boys, or do some international traveling. Check the rest of their tour dates here. Pick up Hippies from Matador Records here.
Opening the show are Devil Eyes, who describe themselves probably better than anyone else could when they call themselves a ‘barrage rock from Montreal who really likes playing live and loud.’ They’ve got a new self-titled 12″ (as well as a slightly older 7″ also) out on Montreal-based Signed By Force Records.
These two bands are sure to make for a great night, so don’t miss it. Enjoy.
