So none of us made it out to the Sean Nicholas Savage, Indiensoci (of Braids), Devon Welsh (of Pop Winds), and The Crown Vandals show last night. A real shame, I’m sure it was a great show. The show was not only a great excuse to get a bunch of talented Montreal musicians together but it was an album release show for Sean Nicholas Savage’s most recent release, called Movin Up In Society, which you can buy on cassette or download for free (thanks to the good folks at Arbutus). This is my first real introduction to his music and I was captured right away by the first track, Gemini Heart (which you can hear right below). Give this album a listen, a real grower.

In Devon Welsh related news, I was just alerted via Weird Canada to a project he is a part of with Matthew E. Duffy called Majical Cloudz. They have a cassette out on Montreal-based Numbers Station tape label. The four songs that I’ve found are really interesting (and can be found below, first three from Weird Canada, last one from the Numbers Station SoundCloud). More on them later when we pick up the tape.

In other Montreal music news, The Hoof & The Heel have an excellent video for their fantastic song Fireworks (which was featured on Vol. 1 of the From North Of America compilation series). It was directed and edited by Bryan Schlam. Really nice style. It’s NSFW but don’t let that distract you, it’s very well made and a great song.

Including TITUS ANDRONICUS this Saturday, April 10 at the Green Room. DO NOT MISS IT.
