Arches Debut Cassette

New Jersey’s Arches just recently played their first show at the Chocolate Bobka showcase for Northside Festival. I was lucky enough to catch it, and it was reaaal good. I’d been following the few mp3 releases that have come out and really got into them. They’ve got a little bit of Real Estate but it’s mostly just their own sound. Their songs are mostly sloooww with lots of reverb and melodic guitar lines. All this is culminating now with their first release, a cassette coming out July 23 on The Curatorial Club, which is run by McGregor (of the Chocolate Bobka blog). It’s four songs, the first one is one of the first songs of theirs I heard (and one of my favorites), called ‘Comin’ Back Again’. The next three are newer and equally as engaging. In fact, I think my favorite song of theirs is ‘Wide Awake’, the second track from this cassette. They’ve only got six recorded songs to their name, that I know of at least, but they’re all good. You can listen to their cassette here and pick it up for $5+shipping in the U.S. or $7+shipping International here.

Take a listen to ‘Comin’ Back Again’ below and just maybe we can all heal a little bit after yesterday’s hurt (see previous post).
