This Week/end in Montreal & Montreal in NYC (at CMJ) this Weekend

In Canada, Celebrate Your Scene, Gigs, Montréal on October 20, 2010 at 5:49 pm

Montreal is a great place to be. No doubt about it. Sure sure sure. It might a bit chilly on occasion. And yeah I mean it miight be CMJ in NYC right about now, which is one of the best music festivals (of a sort) that goes on anywhere in the world, if only because of how many bands come play and how many shows there are every day/night. And yeah Halifax Pop Explosion might also be going on (and looks awesome!). But honestly, this weekend is nothing to scoff at. We got Local Natives, The Hold Steady, Four Tet, Thursday (A)live, Phoenix/Tokyo Police Club/Wavves, Postcards, an awesome looking Eastern Bloc event, Cherry Chapstick, and The Books. Woah.

But, I mention with great excitement that I have a show on Friday at Le Divan Orange with Cinema L’Amour and Goodface Woodface. Tim (who runs the awesome blog The Well Montreal, which puts on some of the best events Montreal has to offer), Adam, Adam, and myself play under the name Count Us Among Your Many Friends. We played a show at Barfly during Pop Montreal which was a great time, and we’re all very excited to have even more fun this time around. Hopefully, we’ll see you there!

Now, this is not the only reason to be appreciate of Montreal. Two of the best artists making music today, who just happen to be based in Montreal, are playing as a part of this legendary CMJ music festival. Braids and Tonstartssbandht have several shows this weekend in NYC. Below is a full list:
