Songs from Le Chevalier’s Room

Just a few weeks ago, friend of the blog, Le Chevalier, posted his debut album on bandcamp. I have to admit, I had no idea that he even was a musician until I heard it, but it’s absolutely something to get excited about.
Songs From this Room is the name of the 5 track EP, and I don’t think there is a more appropriate name for it. Short as it is, Songs From This Room manages to convey complex and personal feelings in a remarkably relateable way.  So much so, that at times it feels as though each song on the album was written for you personally. Adding to the EP’s expressiveness is a soupy kind of a shoegaze reverb tone that I am a big fan of right now. In general, I’ve never been hugely into shoegaze, and I can’t say I’m an expert on the genre, but the thick sounding harmonizations and echoes that persist through the whole album give it a pensive quality that I just haven’t been hearing much of in my music lately.

You can visit Le Chevalier in his room and hear the album on his bandcamp. Make sure to keep an eye out for his next one, ‘Dancer’, which drops in a few months. Stay tuned, because the 19 second ‘Master’ clip has got me wondering what he’s cooking up for us next, and Midday Procrastination are working on bringing you a personal interview with the man himself.
